Julia Markovich, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate and overcome the challenges of anxiety, OCD, and phobias. With a focus on evidence-based practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP), Julia provides tailored, results-oriented care to support meaningful and lasting change.
Julia earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from North Carolina State University and has worked in a variety of clinical settings, refining her expertise in treating anxiety-related disorders. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in empowering clients to build resilience, regain confidence, and achieve their personal goals.
Outside of her clinical work, Julia enjoys exploring her passion for flowers through gardening and design, staying active with running and weightlifting, and cherishing time with her husband of 10 years and their adventurous toddler.

I have extensive experience treating OCD and anxiety disorders through evidence-based practices. I earned my Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University and received specialized training at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, and the Cognitive Behavioral Institute. Over the years, I have developed expertise in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), all of which are proven to be highly effective for OCD and anxiety.
In my practice, I use these approaches to provide structured, personalized treatment tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Yes, I offer flexibility to switch between telehealth and in-person sessions as needed. I understand that schedules can be unpredictable, so we can adjust the format to best accommodate your needs each session.
I am fully committed to working as hard as you do. I follow proven protocols for OCD treatment, so you won’t need to worry about what to talk about or whether homework will be assigned—there will be structured, purposeful work in every session. Most of my clients are deeply committed to overcoming OCD and understand the importance of the effort we both put in. Sessions are tailored to your specific needs, and I’ll be guiding you in challenging behaviors and thought patterns to help you progress.
I currently accept Aetna insurance plans. For all other insurance providers, sessions are considered self-pay. Payment options include cash, check, major credit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards.
If I am out of network with your insurance, you can request a Network Exception by asking your insurance company for a Network Exception Request Form. Due to the specialized nature of my OCD services—unique in North Carolina—some patients may qualify for in-network reimbursement upon request. Otherwise, I can provide a detailed "super-bill" for potential out-of-network reimbursement, which typically covers 60-80% of the session cost, depending on your plan.

In our first session, we’ll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and outline your goals for treatment. We'll also review your medical history and any current symptoms. I will provide an assessment to determine if OCD or anxiety treatment is the right fit, and we’ll begin developing a tailored treatment plan to meet your unique needs.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Many clients attend therapy twice a week in the beginning, while others may attend less frequently. We will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
